In the classic 1972 western, The Cowboys, John Wayne looked up at the boys gathered around him and said, "Summer's over, boys...," as he took his last breath. Well, I'm not dying but the summer of 2014 is indeed over.
It's been a while - like more than a year - since I updated this blog and I'm wondering why! I read back through some of my old posts - and they're really pretty good. You should read them and I should write more.
I've traveled a bit this last year and I've taken a few photos along the way. Here's a quick review:
I went to a Clemson football game.
I went to Hawaii.
I went hog hunting.
I went snow skiing - twice.
I bought a Yeti cooler.
I was inducted into the Thomas Green Clemson Academy of Engineers and Scientists at Clemson University.
I went to Charleston, South Carolina - twice.
I went to Utah to hike with my son - again.
And, I went to Idaho and Wyoming - with a side trip to Glacier National Park in Montana.
And now for a few of my favorite photos from along the way:
Welcome to Death Valley, home of the Clemson Tigers!
Homecoming 2013 with our goofball kiddos!
Haleakala Crater on the island of Maui, Hawaii.
Spouting Horn - Kuaui, Hawaii.
Late afternoon showers off the coast of Kauai, Hawaii.
Coyote in Yellowstone National Park.
Bighorn Sheep in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Azaleas in bloom in Clemson, South Carolina.
Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge over the Cooper River - Charleston, South Carolina
Southern Live Oak draped with Spanish Moss - Boone Hall Plantation - Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Aaron gets patriotic in Arches National Park, Utah
Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah.
Travis enjoys the view from Angel's Landing at Zion National Park, Utah.
It's always important to represent.
From the top of Rendezvous Mountain - Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Schwabacher's Landing at Sunrise - Grand Teton National Park - Wyoming
Lake McDonald - Glacier National Park, Montana
Sunrise over Two Medicine Lake in Glacier National Park, Montana
Sunset in Teton Valley, Idaho
Strike a Pose - Bull Elk - Grand Teton National Park
Whew! That was a lot of travel and a lot of photos. In fact, I took about 11,000 photos in the last year. That's certainly not as many as I used to shoot when I was shooting lots of sports and portraits - but it was enough to get some good ones. Click on any one of the photos and it will take you to the gallery on my website where you can find more just like it. I hope you enjoy them.
